Can You Ensure a Successful Job Interview?
You could fall at the very first hurdle.
Learn How to Prepare Yourself to
Win
On the face of it, mastering the Job
Interview process to ensure successful job interviews should be
quite simple.
After all, your prospective employer
is looking for a particular person, with specific skills and/or
characteristics.
You're sure that you fit the bill
exactly, your resume has got you to the actual interview - so
what's the problem?
And yet there clearly is a problem -
the same job interview questions and answers get asked tens of
thousands of times each and every month on the Internet, as new
job-seekers go about preparing for a job interview, trying to
give themselves the best possible chance of conducting
successful job interviews.
This site is designed to give some
guidance on how to answer job interview questions.
The whole job interview process can be
chunked quite easily.
First comes job interview preparation,
a series of activities that include research (know thyself AND
thy prospective employer) ,some paperwork, and
practice.
Job Interview
Questions
An important part of preparation,
important enough to justify its own category, is a close study
of the usual job interview questions; the ones this particular
company might ask, and the answers. You'll find
some specifics on this site, but the list is by no means
complete, and you might be happier with a larger and more
complete list.
Not only will you be asked questions,
it is just as important for you to be ready with questions to
ask at a job interview.
Next up - how to dress for a job
interview. While there aren't any rules, there are
some generally accepted suggestions as to what is appropriate
clothing for a job interview, and what attire is
inappropriate - and don't leave the decision on your dress
until the day of the interview!
Then - the process to follow, and how
to conduct yourself, during the job interview
itself. Some of it is common sense (although common
sense can become extremely uncommon under the stress of the
interview), some of the information you might never have
thought of.
After the interview, the all-important
"thank you" letter. You'll find some tips and
useful information in this section as well.
You might have to jump through the
hoops a second time, if you get invited to a second job
interview. Great news - at the very least it
means they are seriously interested in you. You'll
find this sort of information in the general section, together
items that don't fall neatly into the other major
divisions.
Finally, look at job interview
tips. These are normally concise bits of advice,
little bits of information you need to consider to achieve
successful job interviews. You'll find lots of
overlap here, with information, questions and answers from all
the other sections here as well, sometimes in the same words,
sometimes not.
No matter.
Repetition is
important.
Read it all.
Let it sink in.
Decide if you have enough to prepare
yourself thoroughly, if you've worked out how to compensate for
any weaknesses you might have. If not, consider
some of the other sources listed throughout the
site.
And if your job search takes a little
time, remember to check back occasionally, as this site will be
growing all the time.
Good luck - although with proper
preparation you'll be able to rely much more on yourself and
your own skills than on luck to achieve successful job
interviews.
